Stewart Aleshire

Stu has been painting for thirty years.  He recently began concentrating his talent in oils with a focus on landscapes and hardscapes  from around the world.  He occasionally finds local landscapes that interest him as well.  He is partial to France, Italy and Ireland but Greece and Turkey hold some interest.  Still life’s that are interesting studies of static subjects are fun. He has done fruit, old shoes, hat & coat, and flowers.

He studied art at the College of William and Mary and subsequently with Campbell Frost, Betty Brown, Dale Mastro, Dick Ensing and John M. Kah and Pebbie Mott at the John C. Campbell Folk School. He favors impressionism but leans toward realism, which makes for interesting paintings.  His favorite artist is Monet.
