I guess I have always had a creative gene instilled in me which probably started with staying with my Grandmother a good bit while growing up. My Grandmother was a painter and crafter and the spark that mentored my early creative appetite. In 2005, my sister encouraged me to take my first oil painting class and I’ve never looked back.
Since that time, I have studied under my sister - Betsy Stevenson, Blake Morgan, Randall McKissick, Karen Hewitt Hagan, Brian Rego, Andy Braitman, Esther Melton and Betsy McDonald. Being, in most part, a self taught impressionist artist has been a very rewarding challenge, however, studying under such outstanding artists has dramatically increased my painting skills and knowledge.
I have sold paintings which now reside in private collections throughout the United States. I also received the Patrons Award at the South Carolina State Fair in 2011 - which is now part of a corporate law firm art collection.
In 2009, I ventured into making jewelry which I sell locally and through my online shop, Southern Vintage Rose. Jewelry making has now lead me into my new project, which is the creation of a “repurposed” collection of note holders, paint brush/pencil holders……..and other objects these found pieces inspire me to fabricate.
You can view and purchase some of my original paintings and handmade jewelry by visiting my shop on ETSY – Southern Vintage Rose: http://www.etsy.com/shop/southernvintagerose
So many ideas…….so little time!
