Lee Sipe


Lee has lived in Columbia, South Carolina, since 1971. Lee has taught at the University of South Carolina, Lander University, Midlands Technical College, and the Tri-District Arts Consortium at Columbia College. She initially began using pine needles to make intricate vessels. She later began to make vessels using both pottery and pine needles. She now also makes clay sculptures, and intricate vessels using copper wire. She later expanded her work to include reeds and wire mesh. Lee’s work has won numerous awards, has been featured in many publications, and is displayed in a number of galleries, museums, and public buildings.
