Pat inherited a love of art from her father who was a "weekend painter." She began her adventures in painting in 1986 when her father passed away an she received his painting supplies. She has studied with many nationally acclaimed artists including: Edward Minchin, Pat Dews, Gerald Brommer, Mark Mehaffey, and Frederick Graff.
She began her artistic journey using oils and eventually gravitated toward watercolor, acrylics and collage.
"I tend to look at familiar subjects in a slightly abstracted manner. If I can pour, drop, stroke, and swish paint onto a surface and 'see' something emerging, I am inspired. Then I will develop the painting until the object is recognizable but slightly abstracted. If the finished painting makes the viewer stop and wonder, then it is successful. I am always willing to experiment with new techniques and new materials, to push the envelope and strive to improve my work."
Pat is a long time member and past president of the Trenholm Artists Guild and a member with excellence in the South Carolina Watercolor Society. She has won awards from the Trenholm Artists Guild Annual Exhibit and the South Carolina State Fair Fine Arts Show. Her paintings are included in private and corporate collections.
