  Claire (Suzy) Farrell

Claire Farrell is a native Charlestonian, but was raised as an "Army Brat," traveling extensively. Her earliest art encounters included private art lessons in Japan, and Saturday classes at the Gibbs Museum in Charleston. She graduated from Duke University, and holds two master’s degrees from the University of South Carolina, one of which is in art studio. Additional studies include a summer art workshop at Santa Raparata School of Art in Florence, Italy and a wide variety of private workshops and classes.
Go Beach Have Fun

She began painting seriously in 1976, working primarily in watercolor for over twenty years. While studying at USC, she developed an interest in printmaking which has continued to the present time. Her concerns with texture in both her paintings and prints reflect this interest. Most recently she has been working in oil and monotype. Her current mixed media monotypes, incorporate a variety of techniques including solar plate etching and chine colle. She uses both oil and water based inks.
