The Trenholm Artists Guild (known locally as TAG) is located in Columbia, South Carolina. Members include amateur and professional artists who work in watercolor, oil, acrylics, pastel, sculpture, fiber, and photography. Residents of the Greater Columbia area over 18 years of age are invited to join. Meetings are held monthly September through May on the 2nd Monday of the month at Forest Lake Park, 6820 Wedgefield Road. Visitors are invited to attend our meetings.

BOARD MEMBERS and COMMITTEE CHAIRS

At its May 11th meeting, TAG members elected new officers for the 2009-10 membership year.  Your new board members are:  Karen Jamrose (President), Stacy Morgan/Tim Adams (Vice-President), Gail Cunningham (Secretary), Donna Reid (Treasurer), Alicia Leeke (Exhibits and Sales), Barbie Marthis (Publicity), David Phillip (Parliamentarian), and William Arnott and Suzy Shealy (Members-At-Large). 

Committee Chairs for 2009-10 include:  Margaret Blackhurst (Greeter), Jerry Bridgers (Newsletter), Beth Cotten (Photographer), Paula Grookett (Website and Membership), and Gayle Sneed (Librarian).

MEMBERS IN THE NEWS

Four TAG members won awards at the Seven Oaks Art League’s Juried Show.  Donna Lynn Gore won First Place, Gail Cunningham won Third Place, Donna Reid and Shirley Wright won Honorable Mentions.  The show will be at the HoFP Gallery on Devine until June 6, 2009.

At TAG's 28th Annual Juried Show, the winners were:  Bob Manown - Best in Show; Proctor Davis - 1st Place, Barbie Mathis - 2nd Place, Lee Sipe - 3rd Place.  Merit Awards were presented to:  Donna Lynn Gore,  Juanita Yancey, and Karen Langley.  Honorable Mention awards went to Barbara Yongue, Dale Bishop, and Suzy Shealy.  A Juror's Special Mention award went to William Arnott. 

Barbara Yongue won Best in Show for her painting Caught in the Moment at the Crooked Creek Art League juried art show held in Chapin, S.C.

Congratulations to Donna Lynn Gore, whose mixed media painting entitled “Chair Series: Peace” is featured in Mary Todd Beam’s new book, The Creative Edge - Exercises to Celebrate Your Creative Self. This book was published by North Light Books and is available now.

PAINTING IN THE PARK

Artists gather every Wednesday at Forest Lake Park to paint and exchange ideas.  Click here to see pictures. Bring your lunch and your latest project.  Hours: 10 am until around 2 pm.  While our formal meetings take place September - May, the Wednesday "studio" takes place every Wednesday including the summer months.
